报告题目：Eurasian Transfer in Science and Technology Intended and Un-intended Consequences of Intercultural Knowledge Transfer

　　内容提要：The transfer of knowledge between China and the West is certainly among the most important issues in the modernization of China and has implications until today. When China started to import Western technologies in the mid-nineteenth century, probably no Chinese official knew the full scope of the consequences they were setting in motion. Although the period of self-strengthening has laid the very foundations for Chinese modernization, it has received surprisingly little attention. This long-term project is intended to challenge old view, create new insights and bring Chinese and Western researchers into a close exchange.

　　报告人简介：Dr. Cord Ebersp?cher（培高德）is Historian and Sinologist. His research concentrates on Sino-German relations during the late Qing period with special attention on military and naval history. After positions in the Prussian State Archive and the University of Bristol he is the German Director of the Confucius Institute at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Duesseldorf since 2010.
