报告人简介:
Dr. Sergei Vikulin is a senior research scientist in Komarov Botanical Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He acquired his Ph.D. degree in 1987 in the field of Botany from Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Dr. Vikulin is also part of the membership of Botanical Society of Russia, International Organization of Paleobotany, Paleontological Society of Russia, St. Petersburg’s Union of Scientists and so on. His major research interests are: diversification and biogeography of Cenozoic Angiosperms, Conifes and Pteridophytes; origin and diversification of Northern Hemisphere: paratropical and temperate floras; fossil record, diversity, phylogeny and evolution of sea grasses; history of botany and paleobotany. He uses fossil plants to investigate ancient ecosystems, past environmental change; the evolution and extinction of plants. He emphasizes questions with relevance for modern climate change, biodiversity, biogeography, and ecological processes; principal field areas include European Russia, Caucasus, Ukraine, Western Siberia and Arctic.
